Margarita Romanova attended the University of Rochester and graduated cum laude, receiving her B.A. in International Relations and French in 2003. Prior to attending law school, Margarita worked as a paralegal in the While Collar Crime section of the litigation department at Nixon Peabody, LLP, a global law firm. In 2010, she earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Rutgers Law School. While in law school, Margarita worked for the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security. Upon earning her J.D., she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Fred H. Kumpf (Recall J.S.C.) in the Civil Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Somerset County and, thereafter, was a litigation associate at Piro, Zinna, Cifelli, Paris & Genitempo, LLC working in a variety of practice areas.

Margarita believes that a family law attorney’s primary role in the life of any client is to be part of the solution through genuine empathy, agile and creative thinking and dedication to preserving relationships – to any and all extent possible – for a healthy future for the client, the family unit and, above all, the children. Her philosophy of practicing family law is two-fold: palpable presence in the moment for the immediate struggle and a steadfast eye toward the future when the dust will have settled. Margarita’s focus with any client is to build rather than to unravel, to heal rather than to exacerbate and to preserve rather than to destroy. In accordance with those principles, she represents clients in all aspects of family law litigation, including divorce, custody, relocation, child support, alimony, college contribution, equitable distribution, post-judgment applications, enforcement applications, prenuptial agreements, mid-marriage agreements, appeals and mediation. Her practice is devoted exclusively to matrimonial and family law.

Life Outside the Office

Margarita loves the outdoors: lounging on the Hawaiian and Caribbean beaches, skiing in the Rockies, hiking in Acadia Park, biking in New Jersey and just taking a stroll around town. She is a devoted Pilates student, having been practicing for over a decade, and frequents her Pilates studio several times per week. When she is not working, cooking or working out, Margarita likes to lounge and look up random things she may be curious about.
